1859 Phonautograph

Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville developed a lab instrument that could record sound waves visually, as what we know now as a waveform, on paper but could not play it back.

1877 Phonograph

Thomas Edison invented a device that could record sounds onto shellack cylinders and play the audio back. Editing Audio after recording was not possible and nether was re recording onto the medium without severe audio degradation.

1887 Gramophone

Emile Berliner refined Edisons cylinders into discs which proved a more stable hardier medium.

AI was addressed in the lesson. I thought it was interesting on how a lot oft he class approach AI created art. Once they know it was created by a machine they dismiss it as not having intended emotion. I see it differently. No matter who made the art the meaning comes from the emotion it evokes from you, the audience.
